EDUCATION REFORMS: CHOOSING STRATEGIES AND TECHNIQUES FOR CHANGE MANAGEMENT

This paper examined educational reforms in Nigeria and the reforms strategies and techniques that can he employed to Initiate and minimize opposition to reforms in the sector. The paper revealed that reforms programmes/policies including some that are well intentioned) have generated a lot of resistance' due largely to the failure of the government and policy makers to minimize resistance to change arising from individual and organizational sources. The paper showed that when appropriate strategies for managing resistance to reforms are applied, government and policy maker: can mitigate the problem of resistance to changes thereby increasing acceptance of reforms and they successful implementation. The paper suggests that a systematic and planned approach to educational reforms or changes should be used reforms (particularly radical reforms) are ever to be successfully initiated and implemented.
Examining the Change Process in an Educational Setting

Abstract Modern educational institutions are challenged by both internal forces (people and processes) and external forces (inside/outside competition, government laws), which create the impetus for change. These forces simultaneously induce and resist change. It is important for leaders to communicate a structural change process for evaluating, assessing, and managing the change process. Empirical research empowers change agents through theory and practice to apply knowledge using both qualitative and quantitative data as a roadmap for implementing change. The management of change requires the use of some systematic processes broken down into steps or phases (Lunenburg, 1995, p173).

Managing change is an overwhelming task at tertiary level education. With increasing pressure to enhance quality and student outcomes, it can be often difficult to deal with the changes that have a significant impact on the performance of any institution. This study aimed to determine the perceptions of teaching faculty regarding change management at the university level and to determine the difference in perceptions of faculty members based on sector i.e. public and private sector universities of Punjab. The present study was descriptive in nature. The study adopted the quantitative design and data collection phase consisted of a sample of 536 faculty members. 20% faculty of social sciences were selected by using a proportional stratified sampling technique. Models of Educational Management and the Implementation of Change: A Case Study

The current paper reported on a case study of the implications of change implemented by a Saudi Arabian public university located in an urban setting. The university implemented a change in the process of preparing students to study in English as a medium of instruction in scientific departments, which required establishing an English Language Center (ELC) within the University. Bush’s models of management and leadership (2020) were applied to analyze the case from a leadership perspective. Results indicated that the formal model was the most dominant followed by the subjective, cultural, collegial, and Political models. Although the nature of the institution and its cultural context demonstrated certain formal and cultural features, the author argues that it is possible to implement more collegial practices.

The main objective of this study is to discuss the perspectives of school change. This study is a theoretical analysis and based on document review. The concept of educational change is described as school improvement. It is one of the ways to address the changing social needs through the technological, political, and cultural change of the school. School improvement or change is to change the school system as a whole for the attainment of better results, but questions arise about how to change, who is to change, and what to change and answers are varied and complicated. The concept of educational change is multidimensional. The perspective of technological change focuses on well-equipped classrooms and the use of information communication technology. The perspective political change fosters on power, authority, and interests of people. The cultural viewpoint asserts that the values, norms, and behaviour influence the organizational performance and unless changing it, the system cannot be changed. School change is necessary for the Nepalese context and in doing so, all the three perspectives technological, political, and cultural are necessary to address. The technological part of the school system is nearly very poor, the party politics in schools is influencing the authority and the school culture is not favourable to address the changing needs of the society. So, all the dimensions are needed to be taken into consideration to change the school system in Nepal.
