A Chicago-area Homicide is the subject of this LInXsuccess story appreciation post.LInX RPM Todd Sherman and I were honored to thank and congratulateLakeCounty Sheriff's Office (IL) Detectives John Hird, Kyle McManaway, and Kyle Brasewiczfor their parts in sharing a great example of LInX's capability.The detectives were investigating abodyfound in trash bags along the side of a road with initially very little to go on.They were, however, able to identify a tattoo on thebody.They described the tattoo in a LInX Search and found a match in a Chicago Police report.It was from aprior arrest of the victim, and iteven included an image of what appeared to be thissame tattoo.It didn't take long to confirm it was the same and get their positive IDon the victim.Importantwork on a tragic and horrific crime. Special thanks and congratulations to Detective Chadd Kaiser and the Buffalo Grove (IL) Police Department on LInX success. While investigating a retail theft detectives got descriptions of the offending vehicle and the offender and his tattoos. #LInX was used to search for any policing contacts with that same vehicle in the past 12 months, in the Midwest, with a white male driver. A matching vehicle traffic stop was located in the months prior to the incident. The driver had mugshots from prior arrests, and his tattoos were visible in both the mugshot. Detectives were able to compare the tattoos between the mugshots and the surveillance imagery from the incident. Additionally the vehicle was found to have identical marks as the vehicle in the incident. The information obtained from LInX that was later corroborated in person and an arrest warrant was obtained. Great work. Last week Regional Program Manager Todd Sherman and I were able to thank and congratulate Lake Forest (IL) PD Detective David Miniscalco for a great LInX success story. Detective Miniscalco responded to a stolen vehicle incident, where subsequent purchases were made with the victim's credit cards. Detective Miniscalco obtained a juvenile suspect's name, but no other actionable information. A LInX name search found records submitted by a neighboring School Resource Officer. Detective Miniscalco was then able to pursue this lead via that jurisdiction and obtain a full confession.Pictured below are myself, Detective Miniscalco and LInX Midwest RPM Todd Sherman. I visited the The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement (OALE) last week to thank and congratulate them on a Law Enforcement Information Exchange (LInX) success. They were engaged in a 2021 fuel theft investigation where Special Agents had been unable to positively identify the suspect, but did have imagery of the subject's unique tattoo.Entering the tattoo description in LInX, and cross checking with a potential suspect name, OALE was able to find a match in an open 2023 case from another agency in another part of Florida.But now they needed to work fast due to a statute of limitation concern. Within an hour of receiving details from the other agency, including mug shots with a clear photo of the tattoo, they met the needs of these cases in short order.Great work OALE! #lawenforcement #police #sheriff #crimeanalysis Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS)
